Themes

Themes & Nightlife

VTG has traditionally been accompanied by dress and venue themes; predominantly for the social schedule. The events' themes are greatly anticipated by our participants, with many dressing up for each nights' festivities.

Some themes in the past have included 80's night, Beach, Zoo party, Footy Colours, Movies, Bogan, and the decades you were born.

For 2024, you have chosen our themes thanks to your interactions on our social media posts. The themes for 2024 are:

Sunday 22 September - Cartoons & Characters

Monday 23 September - Heroes & Villians

Tuesday 24 September - Aussie Bogan

New nightlife venue for 2024

To help keep the festivities going each night, we would love for you to join us at The Deck, Traralgon. This newly refurbished venue will provide a central meeting spot in the heart of Traralgon where you and your colleagues can continue to enjoy your night and interact with other participants from around Victoria

The Deck Traralgon has a large dance floor as well as other areas with music provided by some of the best local DJ’s. It’s the main night club in central Gippsland and will be exclusively open for VTG participants from 9pm each night through to 2:30am. Entry is subject to presentation of your VTG ID and exclusive to VTG participants.

The Minister's Cup

The Minister’s Cup was introduced in 1997 and is a prestigious, perpetual award presented to the team and/or school who best epitomises the ‘spirit’ of the Victorian Teachers’ Games (VTG).

Teams and/or schools are nominated by appointed conveners of VTG sanctioned events. Our conveners are asked to keep an eye out for teams that embody the VTG theme (Participate, Connect, Inspire) and showcase the ‘spirit’ of VTG throughout their presence at the event.

The Minister’s Cup was won by Warragul North Primary School at VTG 2023.

General Criteria

  • Warmly connects with fellow VTG participants through active networking, teamwork, encouragement, and companionship.

  • Inspires and empowers the event and its people by showcasing exemplary behaviour and by going that extra mile to ensure the event runs successfully.
