With the health and wellness of Victorian educators being at the forefront of our minds throughout term 3, the VTG team wants to support your well-being through a range of mindfulness and physical activity options.
VTG Wellness Month is designed to keep you active and engaged with each other throughout the challenging times that many of us are currently faced with.
You can safely participate alone or with those you live with; from home or the classroom without any pressure. Please make sure you are following the Covid-19 guidelines in your local government area.
To join in, simply pick your activities and follow the instructions below.
Record your walk, jog or run online and track your kms over the next 4 weeks.
Enter as many distances and times as you can and challenge yourself to be consistent and active.
Get outside and enjoy a nearby park, head out for a walk with a family member, or tale part in one of the new RUN VTG Challenges for your chance to win 1 of 5 free registrations for VTG25 in 2021!

Relax, rejuvenate & revitalise with this Yin & Yang (flow & stretch) yoga session run by Proactivity, Victoria’s leading provider of sport, movement and wellbeing experiences.
This yoga class will encourage movement and mindfulness and allow you the chance to unwind and find harmony in both your body and mind after a day of work.
Please bring either a yoga mat or towel (be careful on a slippery floor), as well as 2 pillows.
Also make sure that you set up in a space that is relaxed and calming.

Get your heart rate up and sweat it out after a long day of work with this high intensity workout.
A short yet efficient workout, this one’s easy to fit in after work and before dinner to get the most out of your exercise.
Bring a drink bottle and a towel to wipe away the sweat because you’ll need it!

This is a low impact method of exercise that is suitable for everyone, get your parents, partners, kids or room mates involved!
If you’ve never tried Pilates before you’ll be surprised at how much this workout will test your stability and muscle endurance.
Pilates emphasises posture, core strength and muscular balance and is great for overall physical and mental health and wellbeing.

When participating in VTG Wellness Month please:
Be sure to be in a safe place and that you have the correct footwear, clothing and equipment. Also be sure to take the time to complete a warm up prior to activity to help minimise the chances of injury.
There are risks associated with exercise. You should consult your doctor or other health care professional before starting a fitness program to determine if it is right for your needs. When working out at home please ensure that you are wearing suitable clothing that does not restrict movement or could get caught up on anything. Ensure that the flooring is not slippery and all objects such as the corners of tables, ceiling fans or AV cabinets are well out of the way. Make sure the area you are using is well ventilated and that you have a towel and water to hand.

Face masks shouldn’t be used when participating in exercise or physical activity where you are out of breath or puffing. However they should be worn before and after this activity.

It’s so important to build physical activity into your regular routine, whether it’s daily or a couple of times a week. Exercise helps us to release chemicals in our brain that positively affects our mood, improves our sleep, gives us more energy and improves our immune system.
It’s important to continue prioritising your physical health and wellbeing beyond the Teachers Games and Wellness Month. The Department of Education and Training has partnered with Corporate Health Management (CHM) to allow you all to have access to a ‘virtual gym’. The 'virtual gym' includes virtual workouts for all fitness levels and information on health, nutrition and recipes. Workouts include cardio, yoga, dance, meditation and pilates. The videos are pre-recorded, so staff can watch in their own time.
